The Damion L. West Foundation
On July 9th, 2009 a terrible tragedy took the life of a wonderful father, incredible son and dedicated security guard. Damion L. West was found brutally murdered in the Ivy Walk Apartment Complex. He was unarmed, on duty and severly beaten by his assailants. Unfortunately his murderers have not been brought to justice and as his family and friends we need your help!
Our desire with the Damion L. West Foundation is to raise money to increase the reward for the arrest of those responsible. We don't plan on stopping there! We also want to start a scholarship fund his son, brother and then hopefully we will be able to further honor his memory by helping other security guards children go to college. In this newsletter we will share with you several ways that you can help. We also ask that you forward this email to a friend so that they can have the oppurtunity to help as well. On behalf of the family and friends of Damion L. West we thank you in advance. We are certain that your help will make a difference in bringing justice and peace to his family
A Message from Essence Magazine Best Selling Author Nikkea Smithers
The Damion L. West Foundation is very dear to my heart. Not only was Damion one of my husbands best friends but he was in my wedding. I remember him being full of life and a love of debating. He would always be ready to spark up a conversation to show his dazzling intellect. When I learned of his traggic passing I was disheartened that this much hatred could exist in this world. To say it touched home is an understatement. Everyday I watch my husband as he deals with the greif of not being able to talk to Damion. When I talk to his mother Trisha I feel the pain that she has to live with from not being able to hug her first born.
I sincerely want to help make an impact in finding Damion's murderers as well as making his legacy last on going. It is for that reason that I have decided to donate $1 from every copy of On The Flip Side that is purchased to the Damion L. West Foundation.
You may be far away from Richmond but everyone can donate to the cause or buy a book to help in this cause.
